On December 15, 2024, Japjeet Singh Uppal was officially sworn into Livingston's City Council in a ceremony attended by hundreds of community members, family, and supporters. At just 22 years old, Japjeet became one of the youngest elected officials in the State of California — a milestone that reflects the growing energy of young leaders across the Central Valley.

Japjeet's path to the City Council was built on years of grassroots organizing. From volunteering at local food drives to advocating for small business owners, he earned the trust of Livingston residents by showing up consistently and listening to their concerns. His campaign was powered entirely by small-dollar donations and volunteer hours, refusing contributions from corporate PACs.

"This seat belongs to the people of Livingston, not to me," Japjeet said in his swearing-in remarks. "I ran because I believe our generation has a responsibility to fight for the community that raised us. That fight starts today."
