Japjeet Singh Uppal officially announced his candidacy for the California State Assembly, District 27, at a packed rally in downtown Livingston on June 1, 2025. Surrounded by neighbors, union members, and community leaders, Japjeet laid out a vision for a district where working families come first and corporate influence takes a back seat.

His platform centers on six core priorities: taking money out of politics, breaking the two-party machine, universal healthcare, stopping Wall Street from buying homes, breaking up Big Tech monopolies, and ending Big Pharma and Big Ag consolidation. Each plank was shaped by hundreds of conversations with District 27 residents at doorsteps, town halls, and community events.

"The people of the Central Valley are tired of politicians who answer to Sacramento lobbyists instead of the families they represent," Japjeet told the crowd. "I'm running because District 27 deserves an Assembly member who actually lives the struggles our community faces every day."
